Are You Called To Serve the Kingdom Entrepreneur?
Leaning in to the transformative "Come to Jesus" Moment before us
Earlier this year, I published An Open Letter to Kingdom Business Coaches, Consultants, Strategists, and Advisors which started as a Facebook post and ended up being one of the most shared posts I ever had in my 15 years on the Facebook platform.
My appeal for a “Come to Jesus” Moment among those who market themselves as Kingdom business coaches, consultants, advisors, mentors, and strategists resonated strongly. I spent the last several weeks diving deeper because although it would’ve been easier to only sound the alarm about a significant (and rising) Modern-Day Rich Young Ruler problem in the marketplace, my assignment is to also be a part of the solution.
I shared a foundational Kingdom lens on the customer journey, including client attraction and acquisition, and client engagement, and based on the feedback I have received publicly and privately, these articles provided:
Confirmation that the “ick factor” many of you have experienced (discernment) as you observe some of the marketing and sales techniques of your industry peers is completely valid
Conviction from the Holy Spirit of any area of the customer journey where you may be (intentionally or unintentionally) engaging in profit-driven “best practices” that aren’t in alignment with God’s way of being and doing
Today I want to introduce two additional C’s that I believe are key to the solution: Clarity and Community.
Get Clarity
With the rapid growth of the global Kingdom entrepreneurship movement, many Christ-following business coaches, consultants, advisors, and strategists may feel that exclusively serving Kingdom entrepreneurs is the right direction. The truth is that the best direction is the one that is aligned with your assignment. We need greater clarity among Kingdom service providers in the marketplace.
The right direction for you may be to:
A: Be a Kingdom-driven service provider to an inclusive audience of entrepreneurs and business owners, regardless of faith (and market with no overtly Christ-centered messaging)
B: Be a Kingdom-driven service provider to Kingdom entrepreneurs (and market accordingly within your messaging)
C: Be both A and B (and market concurrently yet separately)
Are you clear on whether or not you are called to specifically market to and serve Kingdom entrepreneurs? If not, I encourage you to ask God about it and listen. He will be faithful to provide you with the answers you need to work in alignment with your assignment or will confirm the desire of your heart.
Some questions you may want to ask God include:
Who have You called me to serve through my business right now?
What is Your heart concerning the clients I am called to serve in business?
What does it look like for me to express Your goodness through how I serve my clients?
What is the transformation I am uniquely designed and called to bring to my clients?
Once you have clarity, you can audit your current customer journey and adapt it as needed to effectively meet the needs of the audience you’re called to serve.
Get Community
When you’re doing business in partnership with God as a Kingdom business coach, consultant, advisor, or strategist, it can feel lonely at times, but when you connect with community locally or online, you’ll unlock numerous benefits:
a supportive environment based on shared values that guide your business strategy and operations
an encouraging and safe space to discuss challenges and seek advice and wisdom
opportunity to add value to others by sharing your own experiences
accountability for continuous growth without compromise
collaborative opportunities
the pure Holy Spirit outpouring that comes when Kingdom people come together in unity with eyes to see and ears to hear what God desires to reveal
prayer and celebration for the journey
Connecting and collaborating with other Kingdom entrepreneurs, in general, is invaluable, however, I also suggest meeting regularly with at least two other peers who are specifically Kingdom business service providers.
While true relationship-building takes time and intentionality, it is worth it. Not only do we need God in business, we need each other.
My Prayer and Decree for the Years Ahead
My prayer is that as we lean into this “Come to Jesus” Moment, we experience confirmation, conviction, clarity, and community. I decree by faith that the word Kingdom as a capitalist buzzword will fade away, and an authentic global remnant of Holy Spirit-led and Holy Spirit-empowered Kingdom business service providers will arise. They will move in the power, presence, purity, and passion of King Jesus. They will operate in a spirit of humility, honor, and unity. They will seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and will be faithful and generous distribution centers with the resources they create and are entrusted to steward.
Let it all be so, in Jesus’ name!
Golden!
